The FAA does not take your word for it. Compliance has to be inspected, and proven.

Every required inspection, on schedule

A missed quarterly inspection or an overdue biennial lens check is exactly what turns up in an audit. LumenServe performs the federally mandated on-site lighting inspections for you, on the required schedule. Depending on the inspection, that means a certified high-angle crew or a certified drone pilot, so a climb happens only when the task requires it. Every visit produces a photo-documented report, so you always have proof the work was done and the system was in spec.

What we inspect and audit

The full mandated cadence, plus a complete lighting-system site audit:

  • Quarterly lighting system inspections, as required by the FAA
  • Biennial lens inspections to keep optics clear and in spec
  • Annual top-portion paint inspections for Style A painted towers
  • A full lighting system test: day mode, night mode, and photocell
  • Flash-frequency measurement and a lighting system inspection
  • A system catalog with equipment information for your records
  • A compliance review against current FAA requirements
  • A documentation and photograph package for every visit, ready for audit

Want inspections handled continuously? Inspections are built into our Peace of Mind package and our TLaaS® program, so the whole schedule, plus monitoring and reporting, is handled without you tracking a single date.

Why LumenServe

The required work, done right and documented.

An inspection is only as good as the crew that performs it and the record it leaves behind.

Every Required Inspection

Quarterly, biennial, and annual inspections handled on the FAA's schedule, so nothing lapses between visits.

A Complete Site Audit

Day, night, and photocell testing, flash-frequency measurement, an equipment catalog, and a full compliance review.

Audit-Ready Records

How an Inspection Runs

Questions Owners Ask

FAA tower lighting inspections, answered.

How often are tower lighting inspections required?
The FAA requires quarterly lighting system inspections, biennial lens inspections, and, for Style A painted towers, an annual top-portion paint inspection. LumenServe tracks and performs the full cadence for you.
What is a biennial lens inspection?
An inspection every two years that verifies the obstruction-lighting lenses are clear, intact, and performing to spec, so the light remains visible to pilots as intended.
Do I need paint inspections?
If you have a Style A painted tower, yes. We perform an annual inspection of the top portion of the tower's paint condition. Non-painted structures do not require this.
What is included in a site audit?
A lighting system catalog with equipment information, a full system test in day mode, night mode, and photocell, a flash-frequency measurement, a lighting system inspection, a compliance review against current FAA requirements, and a documentation and photograph package.
Do you provide documentation we can use in an audit?
Yes. Every visit produces a photo-documented report and compliance review, so you always have current proof that the inspection was performed and the system was in spec.
Can inspections be bundled with monitoring?
Yes. Inspections are built into our Peace of Mind package and our TLaaS® program, which add 24/7 monitoring, NOTAM filing, and reporting on top of the required inspection schedule.
Who performs the inspections?
LumenServe's own certified, high-angle crews, plus certified drone pilots for tasks like the biennial lens inspection. They meet the contractor safety and record-keeping standards owners require, and a climb happens only when the work truly needs it, so you outsource the safety and liability risk.
